Banter and Lovetalk Previews

Chloe/Minsc Banter #1:

Minsc: Minsc and Chloe, what a team! Beware evil, our swords come for your wicked throats!

Chloe: Um... right. Woe to you evil. Whatever you are.

Minsc: Minsc and Chloe make a good team. Don't you agree?

Chloe: I suppose. You're not too bad in a fight. You could use a little extra practice, but you get the job done.

Minsc: Minsc is thinking Chloe is very pretty.

Chloe: Um... thank you. I'm flattered. I think.

Minsc: Minsc has noticed no men at your side, and he would be happy to stand there! Woe to you evil!

Chloe: Um... Minsc? I'm gay.

Minsc: Yes, Minsc is quite happy also. And evil is quaking in it's boots!

Chloe: No... I'm a lesbian.

Minsc: And I am a Rashemon!

Chloe: No... you don't understand. I only like other women in that way.

Minsc: Minsc doesn't understand. Boo is trying to explain it to me, but it makes no sense. How do you...

Chloe: Do you *really* want to know?

Minsc: ... Boo is assuring me I do not. Minsc doesn't understand, but Minsc will accept it. Woe to you evil! Chloe is happy and likes women too!

Chloe: (sigh)

Chloe-Viconia Banter #4

Viconia: If you weren't so brutish, you might make a fine priestess of Shar, na'ceroth.

Chloe: I am a priestess in my own right, sha'lerniis. Yr'kai warriors are trained to be field medics, clergy, and scholars, as well as masters of the sword. A well balanced warrior is a deadly warrior.

Viconia: Is that so? I suppose you're as close to a priestess of this Akadia as one can be, given your lineage.

Chloe: I wouldn't really consider myself a priestess, no matter my upbringing or clerical duties. I am a warrior, just a well-rounded and intelligent warrior.

Viconia: You're suingmc, sometimes, but amusing as well. You have me at a disadvantage though, colnbluth. You speak the language of the drow, but I do not speak Yr'kai. What did you call me earlier, if you would be so kind as to inform me?

Chloe: I called you the same thing you called me, Viconia. A barbarian. If you do not like it, then desist in calling me by that name as well.

Viconia: Are you sure you have no Drow blood running through your veins? You appear human enough, but your mother's heritage may be the reason for that.

Chloe: Actually, I never met my father. Though it's possible he was Drow or part Drow, I doubt it. But, saying he is or is not is an assumption, so I will not make it. Regardless, thank you for the compliment.

Viconia: I am not complimenting you, waeles. I despise the Drow these days. Speak to me no more, I tire of our games.

Chloe-Anomen Banter #2 (If AnomenRomanceActive=1)

Chloe: It fills me with no small sense of wonder, good sir, that you have not fallen over yourself in praise of my superior combat skills.

Anomen: Hmmph. And why should I fawn over your skills, be they superior or not, my lady?

Chloe: Oh, I see. I had assumed that you tripped over yourself and worshipped anyone with breasts, but I suppose your fawning is reserved for [charname].

Anomen: Yes, well she is far more pleasant than you could ever hope to be, woman. And I'll not have you insinuate otherwise.

Chloe: Please, Anomen. You do far more than fawn. (mocking Anomen's voice) Oh, [charname]! Let me bore you with my tales! I killed a kobold once! Oh, what shall I do now? Potato cakes or beef stew for supper tonight? Please, choose for me, [charname]!

Anomen: Desist your mockery at once, churlish wench! Stay out of my affairs. And I would ask you to desist in your glances towards [charname] as well! She has no interest in you or your feminine wiles!

Chloe: (chuckling) I so love to rile you up, Anomen. But I shall leave you to your pouting now, however righteous and noble you think it be.

Chloe/PC GTKU #11 Sample Dialogue Path:

Chloe: I'm sorry, was I disturbing you? I was praying to Akadia and Lathandar.

PC: No, not at all. I'm curious though, why do you worship both Akadi and Lathander?

Chloe: Our historians tell us that Akadia and Lathandar both chose the Yr'kai as their favored people, for divine protection and special favors both ways and what not.

Chloe: The problem being, of course, that they *both* chose us. Their creatures, their priests and even their followers fought skirmishes and they argued and bargained for years.

Chloe: The Yr'kai were confused over this fighting over them. They beseeched Akadia and Lathandar to speak with them, to let them decide who their patron deity would be.

PC: Ok, ok. I've heard enough. This story is dragging on a bit long.

Chloe: Sorry, I guess the story isn't as interesting to an outsider as it is to my people.

Chloe/PC Lovetalk #2 Sample Dialogue Path:

Chloe: [looks a bit pensive]

PC: What smells worse than an ogre's backside?

Chloe: Hmm... what?

PC: Minsc on a really hot day!

Minsc: Minsc thinks you are trying to tell him something. Boo says you are just being mean, though.

Chloe: (chuckle) Don't worry, Minsc. [CHARNAME] is just trying to lighten the mood. Just smile at her. (Grins at [CHARNAME])

Chloe/Imoen Lovetalk #1:

Chloe: I sing of nightingales and hummingbirds, of starry nights and moonlit strolls...

Imoen: ... I dream of her hand in mine, and her eyes baring her soul.

Imoen: Celeste of Waterdeep, right?

Chloe: Yes, very good. You're familiar with her poetry, Imoen?

Imoen: Well... yes. I found a book of her poetry in Candlekeep. I found it to be... fascinating.

Chloe: Really? We shall have to talk about this in more depth then, my fair Cassima.

Imoen: Cassima? The Phoenix Star?

Chloe: Yes. I think it's a strangely appropriate nickname for you.

Imoen: Perhaps you have a point, Luridel. *grin*

Chloe: Luridel?

*Jaheira: You're confusing the poor child, Imoen.

Imoen: The Elvish name for Coliar. I've always considered the Elven names for stars to be more... poetic.

Chloe: You are so smart, Immy. Gorion would be so proud. (Smile)

Imoen: Thank you. Let's talk later, ok? We're straggling behind and [CHARNAME] is giving me a dirty look.

Chloe: Jealous, perhaps? Yes, we'll talk later then.

Chloe/Imoen Lovetalk #5:

Chloe: Ready to continue our conversation, nightingale?

Imoen: Yes. I just don't buy that there is no good and evil. Not every action is motivated by selfish desires.

Chloe: Oh? Have you an example?

Imoen: Love... Love isn't selfish.

Chloe: I must disagree. Love is the most selfish of all. What other than love demands so much attention and care?

Imoen: Perhaps, but it also leads to the most selfless of all actions. The total surrendering of oneself to another. Making oneself totally vulnerable to another. How can that be selfish?

Chloe: You really believe love involves that? Not just the selfish desire to be close to someone and have them care for you?

Imoen: If it were, how would you explain unrequited love? How about risking oneself or even sacrificing oneself for a loved one?

Chloe: Selfishly protecting one's self-interests, perhaps. I have no direct experience with love though, so I can't speak from experience. How about yourself?

Imoen: ... What?

Chloe: Have you ever been in love?

Imoen: I don't... um... hey we need to catch up to the others.

Chloe: Hmm... intriguing. *smile*
