Triple PS:T Mod Release and a welcome to Qwinn!
Thursday, June 5, 2008

First up, I’d like to welcome new modder Qwinn to SHS! I hope you have a great time here, Qwinn, and it’s great to see you here.

Secondly, after an extremely productive month and a half, Qwinn has finally completed his three mods for Planescape: Torment. The PS:T Ultimate WeiDU Fixpack, PS:T Unfinished Business and Qwinn’s PS:T Tweaks are all fantastic mods, and we here at SHS are very grateful to Qwinn for putting in the time and effort to make Planescape: Torment an even better game!

Hopefully the titles of those mods are fairly self-explanatory, but here are some brief introductions for those who are curious:

The Planescape: Torment Fixpack is a comprehensive WeiDU Fixpack for Black Isle’s classic Planescape: Torment CRPG. Fixing literally hundreds of bugs and thousands of typos, thereby restoring a lot of lost and inactive content, the PS:T Fixpack (along with PS:T Unfinished Business and Qwinn’s PS:T Tweak Pack) provides a completely new Planescape: Torment experience! Click here for a list of the most important fixes, as well as further information on the mod itself.

Planescape: Torment Unfinished Business takes the almost-but-not-quite-finished content that shipped with Black Isle’s classic Planescape: Torment CRPG and polishes, bugfixes and finishes it so you can see and enjoy the new content in your game! With 14 components in the first release, this mod is a must-have for anyone interested in seeing what the developers didn’t get time to do--or even if you’re just looking for some new content! Click here for information on each of the compenents and further information on the mod itself.

Qwinn’s Planescape: Torment Tweaks adds a few ease-of-use tweaks to your Planescape: Torment install, as well as one or two must-have components! Including a banter accelerator, ease-of-use tweaks and several content changes, this is an extremely useful mod for any player. Click here for information on each of the compenents and further information on the mod itself.

Iylos v2.2 Released
Wednesday, May 28, 2008

Iylos is a ToB-only NPC from Amkethran who will join you in Saradush, if you will let him. A serious and angry man at first glance, Iylos has an ironic, slightly twisted sense of humour which doesn’t exactly fit with one’s general idea of a monk. He has 2-3 banters with each NPC, interjections, a developed friendship track as well as several scenery dialogues and an extensive PID menu which includes a chatpack and flirtpack, all of which are optional in the install.

He is voiced by Bob ‘TheWizard’ Dupois, and has crossmod banters with many mod NPCs, which are included in the Crossmod Banter Pack.

V2.2 has several interjections fixed, and the extended content component has once again been reviewed to prevent other interjection problems.

Attention all! Try to hold on to your stomachs - we’ve sailed into some ferociously undulating waves and impetuous winds with no end in sight. For the penultimate fortnight today, there was hardly a whirlpool in the waters. Last fortnight, a tide of modification updates has thrashed the starboard gunwhales and damaged the mainmast. This is our current situation:

Holy flaming short swords, Batman!
Erephine has done it again, releasing some flaming short sword animations for Baldur’s Gate II for your slashing insanity. Check them out here.

Explore the other side of Ajantis
I’m not sure whether it’s this side or that side, but regardless, you are bound to discover something new about Ajantis in the Ajantis BG1 Expansion Modification, a modification for all Baldur’s Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast platforms ("vanilla", Tutu, and Baldur’s Gate Trilogy). While jastey has called for beta testers for a while, some BGT testing is needed. If you don’t mind some time plugging away at expanded NPC content, check out this mod here.

Needing eminence, fame, or prestige?
Inesius has released Prestige Kitpack, a modification for Baldur’s Gate II that introduces a massive seventeen new kits. With such diversity in the kits themselves, there will be something for everyone in this kit pack. Be sure to check this out here.

Classic Adventures raises a patch
The Classic Adventures total conversion modification for Baldur’s Gate II recently was updated to 0.46. But, wait! There’s more! If you download the 0.46a patch within one hour, we will send you a limited offer one-in-a-hundred set of steak knives to complement your slashing desires, courtesy of Danoz Direct. Actually, we are a bit of short of steak knives, so you’ll have to cope with the patch addressing a number of issues and adding a few new perks. Make yourself cognisant of the changes here and get the update here.

Updates for the romantic of languages
Two Baldur’s Gate Trilogy modifications have been updated with improved Castilian translations, The Lure of the Sirine’s Call for BGT 7.3 and Indira NPC for BGT 10.4. Also, Mulgore and Xavia NPCs have taken to studying “Italian for Dummies” and can now speak fluent Italian in version 5 or the BGT/Tutu modification. Get them here.

Is your GUI blanching on you?
If it is, then you are in luck, as Kwiat_W has released W_GUI, a graphical user interface replacement for Baldur’s Gate II. Surely it will make you explore the game from a fresh blue perspective. Plus, it also works with the Widescreen modification. Check out some screenshots and get the modification here.

Fear not, my intrepid mariners! We will make it through this fell, unmerciful tempest. Till next time!
