IE Modding Digest: Volume XLII
Monday, August 3, 2009

Downloads speak louder than words. So let’s save those words and get straight to the downloads.

Beeping AI
Firstly, the AI mod for the olden days has been remade by horred the plague. Get beeping with BPSeries Remake for Baldur’s Gate II, try out the revamped AI, and post your comments for the beta on the Big Picture forums. Oh yeah, I forgot you had to download it first.

A murder mystery for you
A minotaur and three bodies. What’s the catch? There wasn’t one until Yovaneth decided to add a little dialogue to the Lilarcor quest in Baldur’s Gate II. The Minotaur and Lilarcor will leave you wanting more, but while you check out the information here, make sure you get the updated version of the modification here.

You can see a rainbow, I can see in 256-colour
Want more variegated colour schemes to beautify your characters? You now can with Erephine’s amazing work with the One Pixel Productions Extended Palette Entries modification and the Palette Generator utility. Extended palettes enables new colour gradients in Infinity Engine games, while Palette Generator makes working with colour gradients as easy as skinning a cat… well, maybe that isn’t so easy. But ease-of-use is only a few clicks away, starting here.

Digest will be taking another break next fortnight to visit the cold, but I can guarantee I’ll bring back some snow.

aTweaks v2.6 Released
Friday, July 31, 2009

Introduction

aTweaks represents a compilation of PnP related tweaks and various house rules which are designed to bring more consistency to the gameplay. It works on normal Baldur’s Gate II games as well as either of the two Baldur’s Gate conversion projects: (Easy)Tutu and Baldur’s Gate Trilogy (BGT). The mod is divided into multiple components all of which can be installed separately and are completely independent of each other.

New in aTweaks v2.6

This minor release makes some additional compatibility improvements and introduces three new components: “Rangers’ Animal Empathy improves with experience”, “Restore the Dispel Magic vulnerability to Nishruu and Hakeshars” and “Distinctive creature coloring”. In summary, these components restore some previously disabled gameplay functionality and make it easier to distinguish creatures with similar avatars (especially Golems and Mephits) from each other. More detailed information on the new components and the full list of changes can be found here.

New Portrait Mods forum, wonnimchunha’s Portrait Mod released!
Wednesday, July 22, 2009

We have some wonderful and inspiring artists at Spellhold Studios, and we are lucky that some of them enjoy creating portraits for the Baldur’s Gate Series.

The first portrait mod we are proud to host is wonnimchunha’s portrait pack, which contains 12 professional-quality portraits replacing those of existing NPCs such as Aerie, Haer’Dalis, Imoen and Edwin. Each portrait is installed individually, so you get to choose which portraits you use, and you also have the option of using the portraits for your own PC.

wonnimchunha’s Portrait Mod is compatible with all Baldur’s Gate Series installations.
