Here we are again. Welcome back to all those who had been reading previous issues. A few things of interest coming about.
Casavir Romance Expansion
Berelinde, author of such interesting mods as Gavin, Haldamir, and Homeward Bound for the BG series, turns her eyes to NWN2, with the Casavir Romance Expansion in development now. In her own words: “Neverwinter Nights 2 has romances… sort of. Female Shard-Bearers may romance Casavir, a paladin of Tyr, however the existing romance doesn’t offer much. This modification aims to fix that.” definitely something to keep the eye on.
Storm of Zehir
The latest expansion pack for the NWN series, Storm of Zehir offers some new things, while changing some of the old. With new lands, a new story, and a new way of handling companions, Storm of Zehir has already developed quite a stir of controversy between those who wish only for powerful characters, and those desiring some deep interactive characterization. Check out the thread here on SHS, Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir Officially Announced
NWN - vs 1.69. NWN2 - vs 1.13.1407
Hello again everyone. It’s been a bit longer since our last update but there seems to be little going on around these parts, and I haven’t seen much more elsewhere.
Looking for a new portrait for your NWN character? Need that new hak for NWN2? NWVault is one of the largest sites for customizing the NWN series, in whatever way you wish. Be sure to check it out.
After a seemingly endless amount of time, GameBanshee has fully finished their NWN2 section, including info on the Mask of the Betrayer expansion. All that seems to be missing are the spoilers under Okku.
NWN - vs 1.68. NWN2 - vs 1.11.1153
Wow, two weeks passed already. Sorry for the lateness of the digest. I swear the last time I closed my eyes it was still Wednesday. Anyways, not a lot of flashy stuff this sennight, but still a few neat items.
Interesting Topics on the Forums
What’s Missing in NWN2? Pretty much that. Many have said that NWN2 far outshines the original. Some have said it’s the best rp game in years. However it still had it’s bumps. Discuss them there.
Current Thoughts on MotB Began playing through the MotB campaign, took a Favored soul through the original campaign, or have been dragging around your genasi. Tells us what you think of the expansion, good, bad, or otherwise.
Obsidian has been keeping a developer blog that I’ve missed somehow. The most recent post was the 21st. See the whole thing here, and keep a lookout for more news as it comes along.
A new addition to the News Digest. Each Digest will mention at the bottom what the latest full patch is. For today that is NWN - vs 1.68. NWN2 - vs 1.11.1153
Hello again, everyone.
Welcome back to the continuing NWN Modding Digest. As before this biweekly Friday update will be focusing on topics of interest around the NWN modding scene, including a romance out, some tales of adventure, and the beginning of something new.
So on to the news.
Romance Is In The Air...
While many a tale of romance tells of a knight in shining armor sweeping a damsel in distress off her feet, few liked the lines of dialog strung together and proclaimed as a Casavir romance that shipped with the original campaign for NWN2. One such player was known as Domi_Ash on SHS, and she was more interested in another character, Bishop. On November 21st Domi_Ash released the Bishop Romance for NWN2. For more information be sure to check out this topic.
Bards Live For These Kinds Of Conflicts
Both NWN and its sequel have at times been put down as boring and uninspiring. Yet two authors of SHS certainly seem to have different thoughts. DalreiDal and Orthodoxia have both set to their hands to fanfiction for the series. The former is author of both
A Spymaster’s Musings, a tale of Aarin Gend and his reflections on a certain hero and Out of the Dark and the Mist, the adventures through the HotU expansion for Aarin’s hero. Orthodoxia, on the other hand, has begun work on the sequel with Silver Shards on the Blue Moonlight, a story of a hero who really doesn’t want to be one.
While not fanfiction I’ve begun a thread that will include my take on the storyline as I venture through NWN2 and its expansion with my Elven rogue Maerdor d’Arthian. Expect pictures of my favorite spots, choices that were intensely difficult, or even just moments that I especially loved. I’ll probably toss up favorite quotes and rants on people that were particularly irking. Go ahead and check it out here if you’d like.
The last NWN patch 1.69 is now available in beta form. Details of content are available here. There’s a discussion thread on the Bioware forums here. Keep in mind it is beta; if you don’t like beta, don’t use it.
See you again soon.
As Ascension64’s news updates for the IE on Mondays, NWN will be getting a biweekly update on Fridays. From mod releases around the works, to updates on those in progress, new patch updates, links to discussion threads of interest, and whatever else I’m inspired to add for news for the NWN series modding scene.
So on to the news.
Old Game, New Game
The Baldur’s Gate Series has been a favorite among many players for years, despite its older graphics and newer computers being capable of much more advanced things. But there are few who believe it’s time to lay these great classics to rest. On the contrary not only are there several thriving communities centered around modifying the games, it seems that the NWN community may just be renewing them. With a prologue and a more developed module out for NWN, and one still being worked on for NWN2. At the moment it has a demo out with plans for far more to be added. Definitely something to keep eyes on.
Under the Works as SHS
As you might have noticed, Legend of the Acefes has been under development here at SHS. Set in the world of Damea (a world created by theacefes) it is a single player module for NWN. Be sure to check out the forums and leave a comment and encouragement.
